19th February 2018

Today I spent the day with some lovely young women wanting to get ahead in life.  It was an inspiring day and totally exhilarating.  I feel so blessed being tangled in a world of art.  Meeting younger people I might be able to help in some small way, is the biggest thrill.

Weaving!

I love being an artist, discovering new avenues to explore and incorporate into existing work.  This week it has been weaving.  I attended a day-course with a wonderful teacher and I am now smitten with weaving...I now have a 10" loom and can see endless ways that I can use this new skill with my existing work....very exciting times.  Here are a few of my first attempts at weaving .  I must say a massive thanks to my mum and elder sister, Barbara for paying for my course, which we attended together.  A huge thanks to Bee, our wonderful tutor for an unforgettable day. www.craftsfromthedungeon.com

parking the tiger sketch.

I am parking the tiger sketch here.  I will come back to it again as a full face watercolour in the future.

something different

I put the needle and cotton aside yesterday to start a watercolour study of a tiger.  It's reminded me of the lovely time I had over the summer with my paints outside in the sun.  Early days with the study, but here's what I have up til now.

Catch-up

It's been a while since I posted, but I'm busier than ever on my art, concentrating on an exhibition I have coming up in May.  Fabric and stitch collages have been taking up most of my time and I must admit, I am loving it.  My inspiration has been taken from sketches carried out in the summer, mostly of landscapes and gardens.  I'm getting excited about producing fabrics of my own to use in the collages and am hopefully buying a loom in the next two weeks, until now, I've been improvising.  Anyway, here are a few examples, hope you like them, feel free to comment as feedback is always welcome....

sharing my book

In 2016 I produced a 20 page magazine of a collection of sketches I made during the Summer.  Follow the link below to preview, or buy a copy.  Hope you enjoy and feel inspired that in no time at all it will be summer again.
